Welcome to "The Search for Epiphany"

We will be dividing everyone into two teams.

The First Part of "The Search for Epiphany":

We will have a question and answer session.  We will alternate asking the questions from side to side.  If a team answers incorrectly, the other team will be given a chance to steal the point!

  1. These three wise men from the East came to visit the newborn king.  What four letter word do we know them as?
  2. Jesus was born in this city of David.
  3. The Magi followed a "what" to the city of Bethlehem?
  4. Bethlehem is located in what country?
  5. How many days are beginning on Christmas and ending on January 6th?
  6. In both Eastern and Western Christian churches, what is celebrated on January 6th?
  7. For many Protestant church traditions, the Season of Epiphany extends from January 6th until when?
  8. Many Christian homes have this traditional display of Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the magi and animals in the "blank" set up in their home around Christmas time.  What is "blank"?
  9. Name each gift that the Magi brought (one per turn).
  10. The Season of Christmas begins with the first Sunday of "what", marked by expectation and anticipation?
  11. Name each of the two colors of the Season of Epiphany (one per team).
  12. In choosing to be born for us, "blank" chose to be known by us.  What is "blank"?
  13. Some "blank" came down from heaven and told the shepherds to go to Bethlehem.
  14. This is the symbolic act of being reborn from water.
  15. What is the name of the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus?

The Second Part of "The Search for Epiphany":

Find the following words in the word search.  The letters left over will make an Epiphany phrase.  Note:  If you are doing this interactively you may create a giant word search for the participants to find words in.  Each team will have some hi-liter markers to use when marking off individual letters in the words they find.  Circle or draw a line through only the letters in the word.
